About Huedin

Huedin (Hungarian: Bánffyhunyad) is a town in Cluj County, Transylvania, 46 km west of Cluj-Napoca at the northern edge of the Apuseni Mountains. With about 8,000 residents, it is the gateway to the Apuseni Mountains area, a growing ecotourism and agrotourism hotspot. The town has a 13th-century Reformed Church and was historically owned by the Bánffy family from 1330 to 1848. The weekend farmers' market is a lively affair offering local produce and crafts.

How to reach

By Plane

The nearest airport is Cluj-Napoca Avram Iancu International Airport, about 55 km east. From there, take a train or bus heading west on the E60 corridor.

By Train

Huedin station (Strada Gării) is on CFR Line 300 connecting Bucharest to Oradea and the Hungarian border. All personal trains and most semi-fast trains stop here. Frequent connections run from Cluj-Napoca (about 45 minutes) and Oradea (about 1.5 hours). There is also one daily direct train from Bucharest.

By Car / Road

Huedin lies on the E60 (DN1) road between Cluj-Napoca and Oradea. It is about 46 km west of Cluj and 100 km east of Oradea.

The town center is compact and walkable. For exploring the surrounding Apuseni villages, hitchhiking is said to work well, or you can arrange a taxi from the town center.
