Why visit?

Évora (PT-07) is a District in the Alto Alentejo region of south-central Portugal. The district is anchored by the UNESCO World Heritage city of Évora, one of the best-preserved medieval and Renaissance towns in Portugal. The landscape consists of rolling plains dotted with cork oak trees, vineyards, and olive groves. Megalithic sites, Roman ruins, and whitewashed towns are scattered throughout the region.

When is the best time to visit?

The best time to visit Évora is during spring (March–May) and autumn (September–October), when temperatures are pleasant and tourist crowds are smaller. Summer (June–August) is peak season with warm weather ideal for coastal areas, but popular destinations can be crowded and accommodation prices higher. Winter (November–February) is mild along the coast but cooler and rainier inland, with fewer tourists and lower prices. Check local festival calendars for unique cultural experiences throughout the year.

How do you get around?

The best way to explore Évora is by car, which provides flexibility to reach smaller towns and rural attractions. Regional bus services connect the main towns, and train services (Comboios de Portugal) serve major routes. In coastal areas, local buses and taxis are available. Cycling is a great option for exploring flat areas and dedicated bike routes. Ride-hailing services (Uber, Bolt) operate in larger urban centers.
