About Bacolod

Bacolod is the capital city of Negros Occidental province on the island of Negros. Known as the "City of Smiles," it is the most populous city in Western Visayas and the commercial, industrial, and cultural centre of the Negros Island Region. The city is famous for its MassKara Festival, a vibrant street festival held every October, and its position as the sugar capital of the Philippines, surrounded by vast sugarcane plantations.

How to reach

By plane

Bacolod-Silay Airport (BCD) in Silay City serves flights from Manila, Cebu, Clark, Davao, and Singapore via Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia.

By sea

The Port of Bacolod (BREDCO Port) has frequent ferry services to Iloilo City (1–2 hours), Manila, Cebu, and Zamboanga. Fast ferries and RORO vessels operate.

By land

Buses connect Bacolod to other cities in Negros, including Dumaguete (5–6 hours), San Carlos (2–3 hours), and Kabankalan (2–3 hours). The main terminals are the BATA and Ceres terminals.

Jeepneys, taxis, and tricycles are widely available. Buses serve the metropolitan area. Ride-hailing apps are available.
