Seeb

Seeb is a large coastal district on the western edge of the Muscat Governorate, adjacent to Muscat International Airport. It is one of Oman's fastest-growing areas, blending traditional Omani character with modern suburban development. Seeb has a long beach, a historic souq, and is home to the famous Wadi Al Khoud beach and the Seeb Palace. It offers a less touristy perspective on Omani coastal life.

The climate is hot and humid from May to September, with pleasant winters from October to March. The district is spread over a wide area along the coast.

Muscat International Airport (MCT) is at the eastern edge of Seeb, about a 15-minute drive from the town centre.

Seeb is on the Batinah Expressway (Route 8), a 25-minute drive from central Muscat. Mwasalat buses connect Seeb with Muscat and all Batinah coast towns.

Seeb is car-dependent. The beach, souq, and residential areas are spread over a wide area. Taxis within Seeb cost 3–5 OMR.

• Seeb Souq — A large traditional market selling fresh produce, fish, dates, and Omani handicrafts. Lively on Friday mornings.

• Seeb Palace — A royal palace on the seafront (exterior viewing only).

• Wadi Al Khoud Beach — A popular weekend spot with calm waters and nearby food stalls.

• Seeb Corniche — A seafront promenade popular for evening walks.

• Visit the Friday livestock and produce market at Seeb Souq.

• Spend a day at Wadi Al Khoud Beach.

• Walk the Seeb Corniche at sunset.

• Explore the surrounding date plantations.

Seeb has numerous small restaurants along the beach road and in the town centre, serving Omani, Indian, and Arabic cuisine. Fresh grilled fish is a local speciality.

Karak chai and fresh fruit juices are widely available at cafés and stalls.

• Budget: Seeb Hotel — basic rooms near the souq, around 15–20 OMR.
• Mid-range: Several apartment hotels and business hotels near the airport, from 30–50 OMR.
• Upscale: Airport-area hotels (ibis, Holiday Inn) or drive to Muscat's luxury resorts.

Seeb Souq is good for fresh dates, fish, Omani halwa, and local produce. The Friday market is particularly lively. For luxury goods, visit Muscat's malls.
