Why visit Mahdha?

Mahdha is a small town in the Al Buraymi region of northwestern Oman, situated along the main road between Al Buraimi and the UAE border. It is a quiet settlement surrounded by desert plains and low rocky hills, primarily a service stop for travellers crossing between Oman and the UAE. Mahdha is known for its small fort and proximity to the Hajar Mountain foothills.

The climate is extremely hot in summer (May–September, up to 48°C), with pleasant winter temperatures from October to March. The town is small and oriented along the main highway.

How do you get there?

By Plane

Al Ain International Airport (AAN) is about 50 km northwest. Muscat International Airport (MCT) is approximately 280 km east (3 hours 15 minutes).

By Car / Road

Mahdha is a 30-minute drive from Al Buraimi and about 2 hours from Al Ain via the border crossing. The main road (Route 3) connects it to the rest of Oman. No regular bus service.

Mahdha is tiny and walkable. A car is essential for reaching the town and exploring the surrounding area.
