As Sunaynah is a remote border village in the Al Buraymi region of northwestern Oman, located near the UAE border deep in the desert. It is a small settlement serving the border crossing and the surrounding Bedouin communities. As Sunaynah is not a tourist destination in the conventional sense but offers an authentic glimpse into life on the Omani–Emirati frontier.

The climate is extreme, with scorching summers and mild winters. The best time to visit is between November and February.

How do you get there?

By Plane

Al Ain International Airport (AAN) is about 120 km northwest. Muscat International Airport (MCT) is approximately 330 km east (4 hours by car).

By Car / Road

As Sunaynah is accessible by car from Al Buraimi via a desert road (about 1.5 hours). A 4WD is recommended, especially after rains. There is no public transport.

The village is very small and walkable. A 4WD is essential for any off-road exploration.
