Al Buraimi

Al Buraymī, Oman

Why visit Al Buraimi?

Al Buraimi is an oasis city in northwestern Oman, immediately adjacent to the UAE city of Al Ain. The two cities effectively form a single cross-border urban area, though Al Buraimi is distinctly Omani in character. Historically an important stop on the ancient frankincense trade route, the city is surrounded by lush date palm plantations fed by a network of falaj irrigation channels. Its location makes it a convenient gateway between Oman and the UAE.

Summers are extremely hot (June–September, above 45°C), while the winter months from October to March are warm and pleasant. The city has several distinct quarters centred around the main souq and the border crossing.
