Izki

Ad Dākhilīyah, Oman

About Izki

Izki is an ancient town in the Ad Dakhiliyah region of Oman, considered one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in the country. It is known for its twin forts perched on rocky outcrops overlooking the town, its extensive falaj irrigation system, and its location in a broad valley of date palms. Izki has a rich pre-Islamic history and was an important centre along the trade routes connecting the interior to the coast.

The climate is hot and dry. The best time to visit is between October and March. The old town features traditional mud-brick architecture, much of it abandoned as residents moved to newer areas.
