Gummi
Zamfara, Nigeria
Why visit Gummi?
Gummi is a town in Zamfara State and the headquarters of Gummi Local Government Area, an area of about 2,610 km² recorded at roughly 205,000 people in the 2006 census, carved out of the former, larger Sokoto State (which then also encompassed present-day Zamfara and Kebbi). The area's terrain mixes semi-arid and savanna landscapes with hills and several rivers, including the Gummi River, and its mostly Hausa and Fulani population farms calabash as a principal crop.
