Shendam is a historic town in southern Plateau State, the headquarters of Shendam local government area. It was an important colonial administrative centre and is one of the oldest towns on the Plateau. Shendam is known for its traditional ruler, the Long Goemai, and the annual Goemai Cultural Festival. The town lies in the fertile lowlands south of the Plateau escarpment, supporting rice, yam, and cassava farming. Shendam's market is a busy trading centre.

Yakubu Gowon Airport (JOS) is about 100 km north-west.

By Car / Road

Shendam is on the Jos–Langtang road, about 2 hours south of Jos. Buses from Jos pass through.
