About Epe

Epe is a historic fishing and trading town on the northern shore of the Lekki Lagoon in eastern Lagos State. Founded in the 19th century by Ijebu Yoruba migrants, it grew into an important inland port for the movement of goods (especially fish, cassava, and palm oil) between the Lagos Lagoon and the interior. The town is dominated by the bustling Epe Fish Market — one of West Africa's largest freshwater fish markets — and its waterfront is lined with fishing boats and canoes. Epe is also home to the Epe Resort & Spa, a popular weekend escape for Lagosians seeking lagoon views and relaxation away from the city.
