Gwaram

Jigawa, Nigeria

Why visit Gwaram?

Gwaram is the headquarters town of Gwaram Local Government Area in southern Jigawa State, an area of roughly 1,900 km² whose towns and villages include Fagam, Barebari, Gadama, Kwarko, Tsangarwa, Yayari, Rabadi, and Kwandako. Most residents are Fulani, with Hausa and Fulfulde both widely spoken and Islam and Christianity both practiced. Agriculture is the main economic activity — cassava and date palm are grown in quantity, and rams, camels, and horses are reared — and the area also has deposits of black clay, quartz, tin, gum arabic, and kaolin.
