Why visit Deba?

Deba (also known as Deba Habe) is a town in the eastern part of Gombe State and the headquarters of Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area, lying along the route toward Numan in neighbouring Adamawa State. The area is inhabited mainly by Tera and Fulani people, and Deba's history is traced back to 1375 AD with the appointment of its first Kuji sovereign chief; the town's ruler, the Sarkin Deba, sat on the Gombe Emirate council until the district head's status was upgraded to Emir in 2000. Deba functions as a hub for trade in local agricultural produce — groundnuts, cotton, grains and livestock — with rice, beans, millet, onions and sorghum grown in the surrounding farmland.
