Onicha is a Local Government Area in southern Ebonyi State, created in 1991 from Ohaozara LGA; its administrative headquarters is the town of Isu. The LGA comprises the towns of Oshiri, Onicha-Igboeze, Abaomege, Ukawu, Isu, and Isinkwo, home to two Igbo subgroups — Ezza people in Ukawu, Abaomega, and Isinkwo, and Ohaozara people in Oshiri, Isu, and Onicha-Igboeze. The area is agricultural, producing yams, cassava, and rice.
