Why visit Azare?

Azare is the second-largest town in Bauchi State and the headquarters of Katagum Emirate. Located in the northern part of the state, it is a major commercial centre serving the surrounding agricultural communities. The town is the seat of the Emir of Katagum and has a historic emirate palace.

The climate is tropical, hot, and semi-arid, with a short rainy season from June to September.

By Plane

The nearest airport is Bauchi State International Airport (BCU), about 150 km south.

By Train

No passenger rail service.

By Car / Road

Azare is on the main road from Bauchi to Kano. Buses run from Bauchi (2 hrs), Kano (2 hrs), and Potiskum.

Tricycles and motorcycle taxis are the main local transport.
