About Arubo
Arubo is a small settlement within the Ewa district on the northern coast of Nauru. One of the island's smaller populated places, Arubo is a residential community that exemplifies the quiet, unhurried pace of life that characterises most of Nauru outside the limited commercial areas. The settlement sits inland from the ring road, surrounded by the tropical vegetation that grows along this part of the northern coast.
Like all of Nauru, Arubo is affected by the island's history of phosphate mining — the central plateau rises inland with its distinctive limestone pinnacle landscape. The settlement offers no tourist infrastructure but provides a genuine glimpse of local Nauruan life. Nauru's tropical climate ensures warm temperatures year-round, with the March to October dry season being the most pleasant period to visit.
