Elim

Omusati, Namibia

Why visit Elim?

Elim is a village in the Omusati Region and the district capital of Elim Constituency. It was founded on 18 July 1870 as a station of the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission, whose first missionaries arrived in Ovamboland that year — making it one of the earliest mission sites in northern Namibia. Elim later became one of eight parishes as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia (ELCIN) gradually transferred administration from Finnish missionaries to Namibian ministers.
