Why visit Tses?

Tses is a village in the //Karas Region of southern Namibia, about 1km off the B1 highway between Windhoek and Noordoewer, opposite the turning to Berseba and the Brukkaros Mountain. Its name comes from Khoekhoe and means "place of daylight." The village had roughly 2,050 residents as of a 2023 count. From 1980 until Namibian independence in 1990, Tses lay within Namaland, a bantustan created for the Nama people under South African administration. It is governed today by a village council with five seats. The local economy centers on subsistence livestock farming.
