Brezojevica

Brezojevica is a historic village located in the Plav municipality of northeastern Montenegro. It is situated just north of Plav Lake, at the point where the Lim River flows out of the lake. The village is famous for its rich history and its medieval monastery, which has been a spiritual and cultural center for the region for centuries.

Brezojevica is located just 2 km north of the town of Plav, along the main road leading to Murino and Berane. Visitors can easily walk or take a short taxi ride from Plav. Local buses between Berane and Plav pass through the village.

The village is small and easily walked. The terrain is flat near the river and lake, becoming steeper as you head into the surrounding hills.

The main attraction is the Monastery of the Holy Trinity (Monastery Brezojevica), a historic Serbian Orthodox monastery dating back to the 13th century, featuring traditional stone architecture. The scenic outflow of the Lim River from Plav Lake is also a beautiful sight.

Visit the historic monastery and enjoy its peaceful grounds. Walk along the northern shores of Plav Lake for bird watching and photography. The area is also excellent for fly fishing.

While there are no major restaurants in the village itself, the nearby lake shores and the town of Plav feature excellent restaurants serving traditional northern Montenegrin cuisine, including lake fish and lamb.

Local cafes serve coffee and drinks. For a livelier cafe scene, visitors head to the center of Plav.

Accommodation is limited to a few private guesthouses and holiday homes near the lake. Extensive hotels and eco-lodges are available in neighboring Plav.

There are no major shops in Brezojevica. Visitors can buy basic groceries at local shops or head to the nearby town of Plav for markets and services.

From Brezojevica, you can walk to the town of Plav and explore Plav Lake, or travel north toward the village of Murino.
