Why visit Tomil?
Tomil (Yapese: Tamil) is a municipality on the northeastern part of Yap island in Yap State, Federated States of Micronesia. It is the second largest municipality on Yap and comprises twelve distinctive villages: Meerur, Teb, Aff, Bugol, Doomchuy, Deechmur, Dilag, Maa', Thol, Madl'ay, Gargey, and Daaboch. Tomil occupies the southern portion of Gagil-Tamil Island, except for Gargey village which is on the main island of Yap. The annual Yap Day celebrations (March 1–3) were traditionally held in Tomil's Tumor area for many years. Tomil has its own distinctive dialect of Yapese, notably emphasising the vowel 'e' pronunciation.
Tropical rainforest climate with heavy rainfall year-round. Temperatures average 27°C year-round, with the wettest months from June to October.

By Plane
Yap International Airport (IAP) near Colonia is about 5 km southwest of Tomil. A taxi costs around US$5–10.
By Car / Road
A paved road connects Tomil to Colonia and other Yap municipalities. The drive from Colonia to Tomil takes about 10 minutes. Taxis are available.
Tomil's villages are connected by paved and unpaved roads. Walking and bicycle are practical within individual villages. Taxis can be hired for travel between municipalities.
