Eauripik

Eauripik is a coral atoll of three islands in the western Caroline Islands, forming a legislative district in Yap State, Federated States of Micronesia. It is located about 108 km southwest of Woleai and 700 km southeast of Yap proper. The atoll's total land area is only 0.236 km² (23.6 hectares), enclosing a deep lagoon of 5.92 km². There were originally five islets, but two were washed away by typhoon waves in the late 1970s. All remaining islets are covered with coconut palms. The population was 113 in 2000, though many islanders reside temporarily on Yap proper as labourers. The atoll reaches only 2 metres above sea level, making it extremely vulnerable to storm surge and sea-level rise.

Tropical maritime climate: warm year-round, around 28°C. The wettest season is June to October. Typhoons are a significant threat.

By Plane

There is no airstrip on Eauripik. The nearest airport is on Woleai (108 km northeast) or Yap International Airport (IAP) on Yap proper. Fieldtrip ships serve the atoll from Yap and Woleai.

Walking is the only option on the small islets. Canoe for travel within the lagoon.
