Why visit Tidermene?
Tidermène is a small village and administrative center in Ménaka Region, southeastern Mali, with a population of under 6,000 as of the last available census, spread across a sparsely populated cercle of about 29,000 km². Like the rest of Ménaka Region it was a commune of Ménaka Cercle until being upgraded to its own cercle when the region was created in 2016.
Tidermène is not currently safe to visit. The town was seized by an Islamic State affiliate in April 2023 as part of a wider offensive that also surrounded Ménaka town. Check official government travel advisories before any travel to this area — this guide describes the place for reference only, not as a current destination.
