Why visit Marudi?

Marudi is a small town on the Baram River in northern Sarawak, about 2 hours upriver from Miri by express boat. It is the gateway to the Baram River longhouses, the Kelabit Highlands (via a multi-day trek), and the Gunung Mulu National Park area. The town has a market, a Brooke-era fort, and a small airstrip with MASwings flights. The Baram River journey from Miri through the rainforest is a scenic highlight.
