Batu Kawan

Pulau Pinang, Malaysia

Why visit Batu Kawan?

Batu Kawan is an area on the mainland side of Penang, at the mainland end of the Second Penang Bridge (completed 2014, connecting to Batu Maung on the island and, at the time, the longest bridge in Southeast Asia). The bridge's completion spurred rapid development, and Batu Kawan is now promoted as Penang's third satellite township, combining the Batu Kawan Industrial Park — home to manufacturing plants for multinationals including Boston Scientific, Western Digital, Bose, Dexcom, and Bosch — with the Design Village outlet mall, Malaysia's largest outlet mall (opened 2016) with international tenants such as Adidas, Levi's, Guess, and Timberland.
