Weiswampach

Clervaux, Luxembourg

Why visit Weiswampach?

Weiswampach is a commune in the Ardennes of northern Luxembourg, in the canton of Clervaux, close to the Belgian, Dutch, and German borders. The settlement likely dates to the 8th century — the name derives from a local stream — and the commune today comprises five settlements: Weiswampach itself plus Beiler, Binsfeld, Breidfeld, Holler, and Leithum. Population peaked at 1,701 in 1871, fell to just 882 by 1981 as the region industrialized elsewhere, then rebounded sharply: between 2011 and 2021 it was the fastest-growing commune in Luxembourg, and its crossroads position near three borders has drawn hotels, restaurants, and commercial development.

The commune's tourism draw is a 65-hectare recreation area built around two artificial lakes, with a campsite alongside it — popular with families for swimming, fishing, and picnicking in summer.
