Kaisiadorys is a small town in central Lithuania, 35 km northwest of Kaunas, with a population of about 5,000. It sits on the Nevėžis River and has been a railway junction since the 19th century, connecting Kaunas to Vilnius and Šiauliai. The town has a quiet, provincial character with some traditional wooden architecture and a few historic churches.
The town's name derives from a landowner named Kšyšas and his wife Doryte. It was historically part of the Aukštaitija region and has a mix of Lithuanian and Polish cultural influences. Climate is continental with cold winters and warm summers.
