Khop is a district in eastern Xaignabouli Province, located in the hills near the border with Louangphabang Province. The area is predominantly agricultural with rice farming and livestock. The population includes ethnic Lao and Hmong communities. The district capital is a small market town serving the surrounding rural population.
The climate is tropical monsoon with a distinct dry season from November to February and a rainy season from June to October. The best time to visit is the cool dry season. The town is compact and arranged along the main road.

The nearest airport is Luang Prabang International Airport (LPQ), approximately 100 km east by road (2.5-3 hours).
By Car / Road
Khop is accessible from Sayaboury via secondary roads heading east, approximately 60 km. The road is partially paved and can be rough in sections. Local buses and songthaews connect Khop to Sayaboury. The journey takes about 1.5 hours.
The district centre is walkable. Motorbike taxis can be arranged for trips to surrounding villages. Cycling is possible on quieter roads.
