Salkyn-Tor

Salkyn-Tor is a small village in Naryn Region, located near the Salkyn-Tor National Park about 30 km southwest of Naryn town. The name means "Cold Place" in Kyrgyz, reflecting its high altitude and chilly climate. The population is small, and the area is primarily known for the national park.

The village sits in a mountain valley at over 2,500 m. Summers are short and cool, winters long and severe. June to September is the best time to visit. Salkyn-Tor is a starting point for hiking into the national park.

By Car / Road

A taxi from Naryn to Salkyn-Tor National Park entrance costs about 20 som per person. The road is fine to the park entrance.

Walkable. The national park is best explored on foot.

• Alpine lake — A moderate hike from the park entrance with gentle incline and incredible views.
