Al-Husseiniyya

Al-Husseiniyya is a small town in the Ma'an Governorate of southern Jordan, situated in the arid highlands of the southern Jordanian plateau. The town serves as a local administrative and market centre for the surrounding Bedouin communities and pastoral lands.

The town sits at an elevation of approximately 900–1,100 m, experiencing an arid desert climate with hot summers and cool winters. The surrounding landscape is characterised by open desert steppe, scattered shrubs, and dramatic geological formations typical of southern Jordan.

Al-Husseiniyya is not a tourist destination and has no visitor infrastructure. It represents the typical settlements of southern Jordan's interior, where Bedouin traditions remain strong and the pace of life is slow.

Al-Husseiniyya is accessible by roads connecting to the Desert Highway or the King's Highway. A private vehicle is essential, as public transport is limited. From Ma'an, local roads lead to the town.

The town is small and walkable.

The surrounding desert landscape offers scenic views of the southern Jordanian plateau, with open steppe terrain and distant mountain views.

The area is suited to desert exploration by vehicle. Photography of the stark desert landscape and traditional Bedouin camps is rewarding.

Local eateries serve basic Jordanian fare including rice dishes, grilled meats, and flatbread.

Carry water at all times in this arid region. Soft drinks and bottled water are available from local shops.

There is no accommodation for tourists in Al-Husseiniyya. Travellers should use Ma'an or Wadi Musa as a base.
