Why visit Ichinomiya?
Ichinomiya (一宮) is a city in western Aichi Prefecture, located between Nagoya and Gifu. The city is historically known for Masumida Shrine, one of the most important Shinto shrines in the Owari region. Ichinomiya is also a major textile centre, historically known for the production of Owari chirimen (silk crepe), and remains an important textile manufacturing hub. The city has a strong industrial base alongside agricultural areas. The climate is mild with hot, humid summers.

Chubu Centrair (NGO) is about 1 hour by train.
By Train
Ichinomiya Station is on the JR Tokaido Main Line. From Nagoya, local trains take about 15 minutes (¥420). From Gifu, about 15 minutes. The Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line also serves the city.
By Car / Road
Ichinomiya is accessible via the Meishin Expressway (Ichinomiya IC). From Nagoya, the drive is about 20 minutes. From Gifu, about 15 minutes.
The city centre around the station and shrine is walkable. Local buses serve outlying areas. Taxis are available at the station.

Masumida Shrine—one of the three major shrines of the Owari region, with a beautiful main hall and a large sacred tree. The Ichinomiya City Museum covers local history and the textile industry. The Textile Centre offers exhibits on silk production.
