Dozza

Emilia-Romagna, Italy

Why visit Dozza?

Dozza is a small hilltop medieval village on the border of Bologna and Romagna provinces, a member of I Borghi più Belli d'Italia (Italy's most beautiful villages). It is known for its murals: since 1960, the biennial Biennale del Muro Dipinto has invited Italian and international artists to paint the walls of houses, arches, churches, and porticoes, and the town now holds over 100 painted works across its streets. The Rocca Sforzesca, a 13th-century fortress remodelled into a residence by Caterina Sforza in the 15th century, houses the Enoteca Regionale Emilia-Romagna, a regional wine showcase and tasting cellar.
