Al-Manathera

Al-Manathera (Arabic: المناذرة) is a town in An Najaf Governorate, central Iraq, located on the Euphrates River about 25 km south of Najaf. Historically part of the Lakhmid kingdom of Al-Hirah, the area has ancient roots predating Islam. Today it is an agricultural market town, with date palm groves and vegetable farms along the Euphrates. The climate is hot desert: summer highs above 45°C, mild winters. The best time to visit is November–March.
