About Masuleh

Masuleh (ماسوله) is one of Iran's most picturesque villages, located in the Alborz mountains of Gīlān Province at an altitude of about 1,050 m. The village is famous for its unique stepped architecture: houses are built into the mountainside so that the rooftop of one house forms the courtyard of the house above. A UNESCO World Heritage candidate, Masuleh is often shrouded in mist and surrounded by dense forests.

The climate is cool and humid, with frequent fog and rain even in summer. The village is most atmospheric in spring and autumn when the mist rolls through the valley.
