Firuzabad (فیروزآباد) is a historic city in southern Fārs Province, about 100 km south of Shiraz. It was founded by Ardashir I, the founder of the Sassanid Empire, and was known as Gur in ancient times. The city and surrounding area contain some of Iran's most important Sassanid archaeological sites, including the Palace of Ardashir and Qaleh-e Dokhtar.

The climate is semi-arid, with hot summers and mild winters.
