Why visit Lar?

Lar (لار) is a historic city in southern Fārs Province, about 300 km southeast of Shiraz. Known as Lar-e Ghadim (Old Lar) and Lar-e Jadid (New Lar), it is famous for its Persian Gulf-style architecture with distinctive wind towers (badgir). The city was an important stop on trade routes to the Persian Gulf.

The climate is hot desert, with very hot summers and mild winters.
