About Kolaka

Kolaka is a city on the northwest coast of Southeast Sulawesi, located on the Gulf of Bone. With a population of around 80,000, it is an important port town and the capital of Kolaka Regency. The city is a centre for nickel mining and agriculture, particularly cocoa and cashew production. It serves as a transport hub connecting Southeast Sulawesi with the western parts of the island.

The city has a relaxed coastal character, with a long seafront promenade and a busy harbour serving ferries to Makassar and other Sulawesi ports.

The climate is tropical with temperatures of 25–33°C. The dry season runs June–October.
