About Taxisco
Taxisco is a small town in the Pacific lowlands of Santa Rosa department, known primarily as a cattle-ranching centre and a transit point for travellers heading to the Pacific coast. Situated in the flat, hot lowlands at an elevation of about 200 metres, Taxisco has a population of roughly 10,000 and serves as a market town for the surrounding agricultural communities.
The town sits at a crossroads between the highland routes from Guatemala City and the coastal roads leading to Monterrico and the mangrove wetlands. Its economy is based on cattle ranching, sugarcane cultivation, and agricultural commerce. The surrounding landscape is characterised by large haciendas and flat farmland stretching toward the coast.
