Santa Catarina Barahona is a small Kaqchikel Maya village of roughly 5,000 people located about 7 km southwest of Antigua Guatemala in Sacatepéquez department. It sits at approximately 1,550 metres elevation and has a pleasant climate with temperatures averaging 18–25°C. The village is quiet and predominantly agricultural, with corn and beans as the main crops.
The village has minimal tourist infrastructure and sees very few international visitors. It offers an authentic glimpse of rural Kaqchikel life, with traditional dress commonly worn and the Kaqchikel language widely spoken.

By Plane
La Aurora International Airport (GUA) in Guatemala City is approximately 45 km east. Travel to Antigua first (1 hour), then continue southwest.
By Car / Road
The village is accessible via local roads from Antigua Guatemala, about 15–20 minutes by car. Chicken buses from Antigua pass through or near the village. From Guatemala City, the drive is about 1.5 hours via Antigua.
The village is small and walkable. There is no formal local transit.
