Livadeia

Livadeia (also Levadia) is a town in Boeotia, Central Greece, located at the foot of Mount Parnassus. It is famous for the Krya Springs, a series of waterfalls and pools that cascade through the centre of town, creating a lush, green oasis. The springs emerge from the Herkyna River, which in antiquity was sacred — the Oracle of Trophonius was located here, where pilgrims sought prophetic dreams in an underground chamber. Livadeia has a beautiful riverside district, an archaeological museum with finds from the region, and a castle on the hill above the town dating to the Frankish period.

The nearest international airport is Athens Eleftherios Venizelos (ATH) or Thessaloniki Makedonia (SKG), depending on the region. From the airport, rental cars and KTEL buses connect to Livadeia.

By Car / Road

Livadeia is accessible via Greece's national road network. KTEL intercity buses connect Livadeia with major cities. Driving offers flexibility, especially for exploring the surrounding countryside.

Livadeia is compact enough to explore on foot. For longer distances, local buses and taxis are available. Renting a car or scooter is the best way to explore the wider area independently.
