Kpassa
Oti, Ghana
Why visit Kpassa?
Kpassa is a town in the Oti Region of Ghana, serving as the administrative capital of the Nkwanta North District. It lies in the forest-savannah transition zone of eastern Ghana, close to the Togolese border. The area is inhabited primarily by the Konkomba people, along with smaller Akan and Guan communities. The local economy is based on agriculture, with yams, cassava, maize, and groundnuts as staple crops.
The climate alternates between a rainy season (April to October) and a drier season (November to March), with the harmattan winds bringing dust and cooler temperatures from December to February. The best time to visit is the dry season, when roads are most passable. The primary local languages are Konkomba and Twi, with English and Hausa used in trade and administration.
