Finstrom
Landskapet Åland, Finland
About Finstrom
Finstrom is a quiet island municipality in the Åland archipelago, located on the northern part of the main island complex. With a population of around 2,500, it is known for its pastoral landscape of red-painted farmsteads, stone bridges, and winding country lanes. The island maintains a strong agricultural tradition, with sheep grazing on coastal meadows and fields of barley and oats stretching between birch groves. The stone bridges that cross the narrow straits between Finstrom and neighbouring islands are a distinctive feature of the landscape.
Summers are mild and bright (15–22°C), ideal for cycling and walking. Winter brings cold temperatures and occasional snow, with a quieter, more contemplative atmosphere.
