Imavere

Järvamaa, Estonia

Why visit Imavere?

Imavere is a small village in western Järvamaa, with a population of around 400, situated approximately 15 km south-west of Paide. It is a quiet rural settlement typical of the Estonian countryside, consisting of scattered wooden houses, farmland, and forest. The village is best known for Imavere Lake (Imavere järv), a popular local swimming and recreation spot that attracts visitors from Paide and the surrounding area during summer months.

Imavere's history is closely tied to the Imavere Manor (Imavere mõis), which was established in the 17th century. The manor house and its outbuildings remain standing and are used for community purposes. The surrounding landscape of fields, forests, and lakes is characteristic of the Järvamaa region, with its gentle topography shaped by glacial activity thousands of years ago.

The village offers a genuine off-the-beaten-path experience for travellers seeking quiet rural scenery and a glimpse of everyday Estonian country life. The best time to visit is June–August, when the lake is warm enough for swimming and the countryside is in full bloom.
