Kafr ash Shaykh, Egypt

About Burullus

Burullus is a fishing town in Kafr ash Shaykh Governorate, situated on the southern shore of Lake Burullus, one of Egypt's largest coastal lagoons. The town serves as a gateway to the Burullus Lake Ramsar site, a wetland of international importance that attracts birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. The lake is a vital habitat for migratory birds, fish, and aquatic plants.

The town has a traditional fishing character, with boats and nets visible along the waterfront. The surrounding landscape includes marshlands, reed beds, and agricultural fields. Climate is Mediterranean: mild, wet winters (8–16 °C) and hot, dry summers (25–32 °C). The best time to visit is October through April for birdwatching, and May through September for lake activities.
