About Salonga National Park

Salonga National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site in Tshuapa province, DRC, covering 36,000 km² of pristine lowland rainforest. It is the largest tropical rainforest national park in Africa and the second-largest in the world. The park protects populations of bonobos (pygmy chimpanzees), forest elephants, Congo peacocks, and many endemic species. Access is extremely difficult, limited to river and charter aircraft.
