About Melnik
Mělník is a town in Central Bohemia, located at the confluence of the Elbe (Labe) and Vltava rivers approximately 35 km northeast of Prague. The town is renowned for its white wine production and its castle, which sits dramatically atop a cliff overlooking the river confluence. Mělník has a long tradition of viticulture dating back centuries, and the town's castle houses a notable wine cellar and museum.
The town is small and charming, with a historic centre featuring Baroque and Renaissance architecture. The surrounding area is flat agricultural land in the Elbe valley, with vineyards on the sun-facing slopes below the castle.
The climate follows the continental pattern with warm summers ideal for wine tasting and river walks. Spring and early autumn are the most pleasant seasons.
