Rokycany

Rokycany is a small city of approximately 14,000 inhabitants in the Plzeňský kraj, located approximately 25 km east of Plzeň on the Berounka River. Founded in the 13th century, it served as a regional trading centre. The town is known for its well-preserved town square, the Rokycany Museum, and its proximity to the Bohemian Highlands.

The town centre features a Renaissance and Baroque townscape with a distinctive town hall tower. The surrounding landscape is rolling hills and the Berounka River valley. The climate is typical of western Bohemia: mild summers (17–24°C) and cold winters (-3–5°C).

Rokycany has a train station on the main line from Prague to Plzeň. Direct trains from Prague take approximately 1 hour. Trains from Plzeň take approximately 20 minutes.

By Car / Road

From Plzeň, drive east on road 60 (approximately 25 km, 25 minutes). From Prague, take the D5 motorway west to Rokycany exit (approximately 100 km, 1 hour). Parking is available in the town centre.

The historical centre is compact and walkable. Local bus services connect to Plzeň and surrounding towns. The terrain is suitable for hiking and cycling.
