Why visit Latchi?

Latchi (also spelled Latsi) is a coastal fishing hamlet on Chrysochou Bay in northwestern Cyprus, located 3.5 km west of Polis Chrysochous and 37 km north of Paphos. Historically operating as a small port for carob exports, the settlement centered around its concrete quay and stone storage warehouses. Today, those former carob warehouses house waterfront seafood tavernas, while the expanded marina serves fishing boats, private yachts, and excursion craft bound for the Akamas Peninsula.

Travelers visit Latchi primarily as the main northern launching point for exploring Akamas National Park, a protected reserve of limestone cliffs, coastal gorges, and wild bays. The village maintains a quiet pace compared to the major resorts on Cyprus's southern coast. Its waterfront consists of a paved marina promenade, a pebble-and-sand beach, and a cluster of boat charter desks offering self-drive motorboat rentals and guided tours to the Blue Lagoon.

The climate is Mediterranean, marked by dry summers and mild winters. Summer daytime temperatures from June through August range between 30°C and 35°C (86°F to 95°F), with sea temperatures peaking at 27°C (81°F) and almost no rain. Winter temperatures from December through February stay between 15°C and 18°C (59°F to 64°F) during the day, dropping to 8°C (46°F) at night, with most of the annual 450 mm rainfall occurring between November and March.
