About Emba

Emba (Greek: Έμπα) is a large, traditional village located in the Pafos District of Cyprus, situated approximately 5 kilometres north of Pafos town at an elevation of 135 metres. Positioned on a hillside, the village offers a quieter, more authentic alternative to the bustling tourist resorts of the coast, while remaining close to the region's main attractions.

The village has a long history dating back to the Byzantine era and was well-known during the Frankish period of Cyprus. Its name is derived from the Greek word for "enter" (emba), as the village was historically located at the northern entrance to the Pafos region for travellers. During the medieval period, it was known for its sugarcane cultivation and was visited by King Peter I in the 14th century.

Emba experiences a typical Mediterranean climate, characterized by hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The best time to visit is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) when temperatures are pleasant for outdoor exploration.
