Bejucal

Mayabeque, Cuba

Why visit Bejucal?

Bejucal is a municipality and town in Mayabeque Province, Cuba, located approximately 35 km south of Havana. The town is famous throughout Cuba for its annual Charangas de Bejucal, a traditional festival held each December featuring elaborate floats, music, and dancing — one of the oldest and most celebrated carnival traditions on the island.

The municipality has a population of around 27,000 and has a central plaza, a parish church, and colonial-era buildings. The town sits on slightly elevated terrain with views over the surrounding agricultural lowlands. Bejucal's cultural significance extends beyond its size, thanks to its vibrant festival tradition.

Tropical climate with a wet season (May–October) and a drier season (November–April). The slightly elevated position gives marginally cooler temperatures than the coastal lowlands.
