Güines is a municipality and town in Mayabeque Province, Cuba, located approximately 45 km southeast of Havana. One of the oldest towns in western Cuba, Güines was founded in the 16th century and has long been an important agricultural centre in the fertile plains south of Havana.
The municipality has a population of around 68,000 and features a central plaza, a parish church dating to the colonial era, and a mix of architectural styles spanning several centuries. The surrounding countryside is devoted to sugarcane, vegetables, and livestock, making it one of Cuba's most productive agricultural regions.
Tropical climate with a wet season (May–October) and a drier season (November–April). The flat terrain can make summer months hot and humid.

By Plane
José Martí International Airport (HAV) in Havana is the nearest airport, approximately 45 km northwest. A taxi costs around CUC 35–45 and takes about 50 minutes.
By Car / Road
Güines is accessible from Havana via the A1 autopista and local roads. The drive takes about 50 minutes. Colectivos and local buses serve the route regularly.
The town centre is walkable. Bici-taxis and horse-drawn carts provide local transport. For trips to surrounding agricultural areas, taxis or colectivos are needed.
